Verifieer jouw domein
Geachte relatie/systeembeheerder,
Hieronder vindt u het stappenplan om uw e-mailadres voor EDG Media te ‘verifiëren’. De kans dat de emailbrowser (Outlook, Gmail etc) je emailcampagne markeert als spam wordt hierdoor kleiner. De kans is groter dat de doelgroep de campagne in de juiste mailbox ontvangt.
Het enige wat u hoeft te doen is het toevoegen van DKIM en SPF in uw DNS. Ik kan me voorstellen dat deze codes kunnen afschrikken maar met een stappenplan én de juiste informatie is dit zo gebeurd.
SPF
Om EDG Media te machtigen moet het volgende aan het spf record toegevoegd worden: “include:_spf.exsilia.net”
Aan het einde van het SPF-record geef je op hoe er door de ontvangende mailserver met het record moet worden omgegaan. Je hebt hier de volgende opties:
• ~all: de softfail-methode. Als een e-mail wordt verzonden door een host of IP-adres dat niet in de SPF-record is opgenomen, dan wordt de e-mail wel geaccepteerd, maar mogelijk als spam gemarkeerd;
• -all: de hardfail-methode. Als een e-mail wordt verzonden door een host of IP-adres dat niet in de SPF-record is opgenomen, dan wordt de e-mail direct geweigerd;
Wij adviseren om hier te kiezen voor “~all” ipv “-all”.
DKIM
In de onderstaande codes moet uw domein ingevuld worden. Vervang domein.nl voor uw domeinnaam. (Bijv. edg.nl, onderwijsinformatie.nl)

Pas op! De code is spatiegevoelig, zorg ervoor dat je tijdens het invullen niet per ongeluk tekens/spaties verwijderd.
Nu is het belangrijk om te testen dat beide records succesvol toegevoegd waren.
Test DKIM
1) Via deze website kunt u controleren of het is gelukt om de DKIM toe te voegen in uw DNS: https://emailstuff.org/authentication
2) Vul het domein in. (bijv. edg.nl, onderwijsinformatie.nl) Bij DKIM Selector vult u in: mailrelay
Na het drukken op de button kunt u zien of de codes gevonden zijn. Het kan een paar uur duren voordat dit zichtbaar is.

Een veelvoorkomende fout zijn spaties is de DKIM code string. Er mogen geen spaties in staan.

1) Via deze website kunt u controleren of het is gelukt om de SPF toe te voegen in uw DNS: https://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html
2) Vul het domein in en klik enter.
Na het drukken op de button kunt u zien of de codes gevonden zijn. Het kan een paar uur duren voordat dit zichtbaar is.
Wanneer staat het goed?
Als je deze resultaten krijgt (include:_exsilia.net) en (evaluating...SPF record passed validation test with pySPF (Python SPF library)!) is ‘ie goed! (zie screenshot)
Troubleshooting
Een veelvoorkomende fout is te veel entries; de max is 10.

Below you will find a step-by-step guide on how to verify your e-mailadres with EDG Media. Verifying your e-mailadres decreases the chance that e-mailbrowser (such as Outlook, Gmail etc.) mark your emailcampagne as spam, and therefor increases the chance that the targeted group receives your email and can interact with it.
Verification is done through your DNS record, more specifically through DKIM and SPF records. These may look like daunting abbreviations but don’t be alarmed. Follow the step-by-step guide and it will be done in minutes.
SPF
1. To verify EDG Media you have to add the following code to your SPF-record; “include:_spf.exsilia.net”
At the end of the SPF-record you can determine how receiving mailservers interact with the record. Je have the following options:
- ~all : softfail-methode. If an e-mail is sent by a host/IP-adres that is not in the SPF-record, the email will be accepted but possibly marked as spam.
- -all : hardfail-methode. If an e-mail is sent by a host/IP-adres that is not in the SPF-record, the email will be deleted.
We recommend to choose the softfail-methode (~all).
DKIM
1. Below you see the DKIM code that needs to be added. First, change domein.nl into your own domainnname. (i.e. edg.nl)

2. Attention! This code is space-sensitive, so make sure there are no extra symbols or spaces added/removed during copying.

The most common error we get back is extra spaces in the codes string. Please make sure there are no spaces.

If you see include:_exsilia.net in your TXT record and evaluating...SPF record passed validation test with pySPF (Python SPF library)! then we are ready to rock ‘n roll!
It might take a couple hours before the changes come back correct.
Once both tests pass let us know and we will finalize the settings on our end. This is a crucial step and should not be forgotten.
